Reiki is a form of energy work whereby a practitioner directs energy into or out of the body. The focus of the treatment is to achieve overall energetical balance, and to ensure the Chakras and Aura are functioning in a healthy manner. As a result of moving energy throughout the body, patients often experience a deep sense of relaxation, a lessening of pain and discomfort, as well as a releasing of emotions stored in the body.
The art and practice of Reiki has its origins in Japan, and in order for energy work to be considered Reiki, it must adhere to the following 4 statements:
- The ability to perform Reiki comes from receiving an attunement, rather than developing the ability over time through the use of mediation or other exercises.
- All Reiki techniques are part of a lineage, meaning the technique has been passed from teacher to student through an attunement process, starting with the one who first channeled the technique.
- Reiki does not require that one guides the energy with the mind, as it is guided by the higher power that knows what vibration or combination of vibrations to have and how to act.
- Reiki can do no harm
